Kom med til fernisering og åbning af ArtShoppen lørdag den 20. juni kl. 13-15
Kunstnergruppen OPEN opstod for et år siden, da billedkunstnerne Janne Wollesen og Merete Byrial gik i samarbejde med fotograf Stephen Freiheit om at skabe en udstilling på Kunstart20 i Saltum. Udstillingen blev et tilløbsstykke og de tre kunstnere fortsætter nu samarbejdet i Smedjen tilhørende restaurant RARTSTED på Nørregade 17 i Løkken. Sommeren igennem kan man fredage, lørdage og søndage kl. 13-16 se de tre kunstneres værker i form af maleri, fotografi, keramik m.v. Som gæstekunstnere er glaspuster Leif Vange og billedhugger Bodil Dam også repræsenteret.
”Vi vil gerne være med til at vise værker af nogle af de dygtige kunstnere, som bor og arbejder i Nordjylland. Smedjen hos os er et oplagt sted til at vise kunst og vi ved jo af erfaring, at mange danske og internationale turister lægger vejen forbi Løkken i løbet af året. De skal have muligheden for at opleve noget af den kvalitets kunst, som bliver skabt lokalt” – siger Thomas Kurek, der driver restaurant RARTSTED.
Stephen Freiheit er fotograf og billedkunstner og bosat i Vittrup. Han har tidligere udstillet på Charlottenborg, Galleri Christian Dam, Fotografisk Center, Vendsyssels Historiske Museum m.fl. Han arbejder med fotografi, kobbertryk og akryl.
Janne Wollesen er bosat i Saltum og er internationalt anerkendt billedkunstner med afgang fra Skolen for kunst og design i 1990, Hun maler med akryl og blæk, kul og kridt og hendes billeder er senest solgt til bl.a. Bundesregierung i Berlin.
Merete Byrial er bosat i Løkken og har baggrund i scenekunst, performance koreografi m.v. Hun kombinerer egne fotografier med akrylmaling og collage. Senest også keramik. I 2023 udstillede Merete Byrial på Atelier 228 i København og samme år flyttede hun med sin familie til Løkken.

The artist group OPEN was founded a year ago when visual artists Janne Wollesen and Merete Byrial collaborated with photographer Stephen Freiheit to create an exhibition at Kunstart20 in Saltum. The exhibition became a hit and the three artists are now continuing their collaboration in Smedjen, which belongs to RARTSTED restaurant at Nørregade 17 in Løkken. Throughout the summer, you can see the artists’ works in the form of paintings, photography, ceramics, etc. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm. Glass artist Leif Vange and sculptor Bodil Dam are also represented as guest artists.
“We would like to help show works by some of the talented artists who live and work in North Jutland. Our former blacksmith is an obvious place to show art and we know from experience that many Danish and international tourists visit Løkken during the year. They should have the opportunity to experience some of the quality art that is created locally” – says Thomas Kurek, who runs the restaurant RARTSTED.
Stephen Freiheit is a photographer and visual artist and lives in Vittrup. He has previously exhibited at Charlottenborg, Galleri Christian Dam, Fotografisk Center, Vendsyssels Historiske Museum, etc. He works with photography, copperplate printing and acrylic.
Janne Wollesen lives in Saltum and is an internationally recognized visual artist who graduated from the School of Art and Design in 1990. She paints with acrylic and ink, charcoal and chalk and her paintings have most recently been sold to, among others, the Bundesregierung in Berlin.
Merete Byrial lives in Løkken and has a background in performing arts, performance choreography, etc. She combines her own photographs with acrylic paint and collage. Most recently also ceramics. In 2023, Merete Byrial exhibited at Atelier 228 in Copenhagen and in the same year she moved with her family to Løkken.
